I tried installing Vista Ultimate on Sunday, spent several hours arranging my data and making sure I had all the drivers for everything I needed. It installed just fine, everything looked and ran great! Well... that is until I tried to install the supposed "Vista-compatible" driver version for my USB wireless adapter... with my luck, it didn't work at all and it turns out that no such drivers really exist, it was incorrect information about it being vista compatible...

So before I knew it I had to load up Acronis True Image and restore my windows XP Hard Drive image. Worked like a charm, and without me having to set everything up. It was definitely a great investment buying it. There's also a free version for people with Seagate and Maxtor hard drives here: link I wanted the extra functionality so I upgraded from the free version, but either way, it's very useful. It also makes buying Acronis true image cheaper since you can pay 40% less with the upgrade price.

So basically, the moral of the story is that Gigabyte sucks for networking components. On second thought, they suck at everything... I'll have to get a new network setup before I can run vista permanently.

Here's the router I'll probably get if I can: link (Yeah, when it comes to computers, if it has a screen, It's sold!)

It's actually $1000, but a student discount of 80% brings it down to $200. I've paid $200-400 for each of my other graphics programs.

There is a large need for graphics design. In addition to that, in a years time I could start selling prints on deviantart for example. Everyone starts somewhere.

To the contrary. Vista is a fine operating system. There is nothing really "Wrong" with it when things don't work. It is nothing more than the individual software and hardware manufacturers fault for not updating their software and drivers. Microsoft can't exactly barge into every software company and force them to, so they just update their stuff in their own time. It's not Microsofts fault or problem at all. People tend to jump to conclusions blaming them.

Most things however do work fine in vista, it's just that a complaint usually travels ten times further than a compliment."

There is a really long list of issues with Vista on my brothers website that I can't find yet.
But vista runs slower than XP (takes more cpu power & ram to do little things like just running the OS)
The writing times on everything is EXTREMELY slow. Microsoft could have made the previous software compatible
with Vista. Some of their own programs made by them didn't even work at first when Vista was released.
The day Vista came out I could already get a CD that could crack the password for Vista. I had fun with that

I went to a local Staples and cracked the admin password, changed the boot up screen to a Linux Penguin.
I also changed the background too. But Vista also lacks in security, and then there security in some instances
it is rediculas like the "allow" or "decline."

I guess it all comes down to I use Linux for almost everything exept for games, if Linux could play maple
I would switch in a heartbeat. Linux is far better and its free. I would Highly suggest people to use it.
I don't see why people like Vista.

To me this is the only way to install Vista

EDIT: Oh yea and Microsoft copied a lot of things from Linux and Mac OS X.

You're the first ever person i've seen who plays MS and uses Linux! =DD What Distrib do you use?? I use Ubuntu personally but I'm thinking about having a look at Fedora.
It's a pity that WINE doesn't seem to support GameGuard =( Well that's what Dual-Boot is for "

If you want to discuss Linux with me how about you go ahead and PM me on Profil3, or on basilmarket.
My ID is the same for both: MJM128. Don't want to swamp Mindstormers profil3 with a conversation between us.

I have several computers in my house, 4 have linux, 4 have windows, 2 of those 8 dual boot both Operating Systems.
I have tested out several Distros (my brother is more...um Linuxy?) from Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Suse, PCLINUX, Fedora, and
many other distros. I personaly like Ubuntu or Kubuntu. I do use linux, but my brother is more of a linux fanatic than me.
He hosts his own site at our house running an old computer.
He recently bought a new laptop from Dell that is pre-installed with ubuntu linux. Dell has started to support linux
YAY *jumps for joy*

And it really isn't WINE's fault for maple not working. Game n Guard prevents it from working on other systems.
It nexon's fault.

Ok, well if you want to contact me feel free to do so.

Based on what? Your own experience? Because that's not what most reviews would say.

Most reviews rush things, like they put the most pressure on these components and see what breaks first.
They wont give you correct info, the only thing the care about, is rushing everything because if they don't, they wont get paid.
I've worked at Expert holland for quite a long time, and you notice that certain hard drives or motherboards are defect much faster.
The only reason we sell maxtor drives is because they are much faster defect, wich will result in the costumor coming back for a new one wich we get $$ for lol.
Btw i dont make the decision to sell those, the boss does. Because hes fat and cares about money, but what boss doesnt...
About intel... i was just trying to get on your nerves haha..
And gigabyte doesnt suck
And samsung OWNS! what review says it doesnt? because they are on crack.
Peace

Seagate is my preferred brand when it comes to hard drives. Never really had any trouble at all.

As for gigabyte, everything we've had from them has been low quality, nor that easy to set up for the average user. (Router/access point/wireless adapters).
I think we may have had a lousy monitor from them as well.

Maybe you just bought it from the same place, like the guy who brings it, drives his car so bad, that he takes down the lifetime by 50% o.o

Nothing is impossible!
Lol ok now im just talking nonsense

I returned and tried another, both were lousy. There's no two ways about it.
