Btw, that's how it works in Photoshop CS3 (assuming you did use Photoshop CS3). If you wanted to try to get a more clean cut, make the eraser into a square and try it. If the pixels don't erase when you have the corners/sides on them, go a little into the surrounding pixels to get the pixel you want to be erased erased.
... Does that makes sense?
