Me playing in a very talented orchestra. Of course, I'm the asian boy in the front of the stage in my dress clothes. I play the violin, for about 6 years actually. The orchestra practiced about 12 hours in 3 days, and then a big concert right after that. It was pretty amazing playing with such awesome people. Only 4 of my friends were there though.

Dude, I'm so jealous. =P
I lack the time to learn the violin.
Actually, I'm thinking more Viola/Cello rather than that puny little things. >
Just kidding about the puny part. ;D

Violin is a good choice for a instrument, only to know that thousands and thousands of people play the instrument and it gets competitive. Cello and viola are also good choices, and very important aspects that makes a orchestra complete.

Dude, do you go to MTHS?
I went to my cousin's concert for Christmas and I noted there was one asian boy out of like a handful of girls.

Hmm... I have a friend named Erin White who goes to Jillards to study violin. o.O She's a best. Do you happen to know Yehna Chang? She's like... concert mistress of the state orchestra. Friend of mine too. =] You say you live in massachussets? Where? I'm at lexington.
I live in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. I am in one of the New England Conservatory orchestras in Boston for... Let's say high school students. I can say I "know" Yehna Chang, as in I've heard of her a lot. I study music with a Japanese teacher, and take violin lessons from a Chinese. There were a couple Lexington people in the Junior District orchestra I played in (Eastern District).

Wow dude...I did orchestra for two years.I got bored of it,mostly because of my teacher's fault, and I didn't even learn vibrato and stuff like that. >.>
Reply to L1l4znfr34k: I did orchestra for 5 years, possibly I'll do 6 soon. Orchestra teachers usually don't focus A LOT on technical stuff. Orchestra in school usually focuses on a goal. Like a concert of something: which requires you to play some songs learned in a period of time. If you focus more on technical stuff, it may be like a school for studying music, rather than playing the instrument more. I take private lessons, which help A LOT with the technical stuff, because private lessons focus on EVERYTHING: technical areas and execution of music. If you want to improve or learn stuff like vibrato, spiccato, and other technical areas, I recommend learning from a private teacher. Also, BOREDOM SHOULDN'T STOP YOU FROM PLAYING. As you progress, it may seem boring, but I believe when you are able to play difficult songs, it drives you to play. I think playing an instrument is exciting and fun. I hope you get the urge to continue playing your instrument.

Franck Sonata for Violin and Piano. Tell me when you get into that, and I'll find you someday in a practice room with a piano.
And I love the Bruch Concerto in what was it? G minor? I forget. Or maybe that was Mendelssohn
