Lol. I've had this game for about 2 years and never played it. I'm a big Final Fantasy fan and have beaten all of them up to 7, then skipping across to FFX, which i ALMOST beat.
I go on alot of game sites and at the top of every list for SNES, is Chrono Trigger. It's "The best RPG ever made." So i started playing it cause it's like the only RPG for the SNES i havent played.
I mean are you kidding me? This game SUCKS. FF6 can wipe the floor with this game. CT's storyline is crap. The battle system is both boring and easy. It's amazingly hard to avoid monsters which are killed so easily and give so little EXP, they just become a waste of time. The puzzles in it are crap. They mostly involve walking around pushing buttons in such an obxoius way that it shouldn't have even been put in the game. The graphics are made by the same guy that did DBZ and omg, does it show. The first party member you get looks like a girl version of Vegeta.
I'm just really disappointed. I haven't beaten the game yet but im more than 1/2 way through. It's so hyped about but it comes out JUST average. The music is good, the graphics are FF6-level but thats it. I mean what else is there? You can travel through time, AMAZING, you can do that in like 100 games. Even looking back to other games made around the same time, it's just not as good.
Equipment in FF games is one of my favorite things, ESPECIALLY in games like FF6 and FF7. Mixing an matching relics and espers, or materia and armbands. The FF6 equipment was the best because there was so many ways to mix and match and so many kinds of armor that it was always fun equipting your LOAD of characters.
Where as in CT you have hat, accesory, weapon, and armor. Each next armor is a little stronger than the next, theres no mixing and matching. You just put on what comes next and it becomes a DRAG to put on armor and you just wish it would auto-equip. The tech-moves you get are stupid. I've used each one like 2-5 times and relized it's just a waste of MP. Theres only 1 or 2 per character that i use AT ALL.
The characters are stereo-typical. Tomboy princess, robot, geek, knightly frog.... it's so boring and old school. These characteristics were shown in so many other games.
Yeah. CT sucks. FF6 is a better RPG and Lufia 2 has better puzzles and stuff.
