Thread starter I mostly play with picks, I do play with my fingers sometimes, but mostly picks, I like the sound you get with the pick better. It sucks that bassists that play with picks are often looked down to.

-Slap -Tap -walking bass You can hardly do these schemes with a pick (or at least i cant) But when it comes to rock or punkrock i play with the pick

Personally, I prefer my fingers because holding the pick in my hand feels uncomfortable.. but I'm still quite unskilled with my fingers so I've been sticking with a pick latley. But I would like to play with my fingers more.
Oh, and you know what's funny?  My brother can slap with a pick.. in fact, he can only slap with a pick...... he can't do it with his fingers. Again, he's a guitarist, but plays and has a knack for everything.... damn him..

I use whatever the bassist in the band I'm covering uses.
If it is an original song, I just take whatever sounds better. Picks are usually more trebley, so yea. Stuff like Tool and A Perfect Circle I use a pick for, and most everything else with fingers.
