At the end of the game after you defeat the one-winged angel sephiroth, cloud trips out and goes through this tunnel thing.
Near the end of the tunnel, the game gives a close-up on this yellow orb thing.
No one, not even advent children and dirge of cerberus, has even referred to it in the game. WHAT IS IT!? It's driving us ff7 fans nuts!
here are some theories on what the orb is supposed to be.
1. It's Holy materia.
2. It's the planet's soul.
3. It's cloud's innermost part of his mind.
4. It's the moon or it's meteor.
5. It's a future glimpse of the planet after all that is bad has been eradicated.
6. Aeris in Orb form.
7. It's the sun that cloud sees when he dies and goes to heaven.
8. It's a Materia Orb.
9. It's the Zodiac Stone of Cancer.

Oh that is the holy materia that aeris had. it was handed to her by her mom (the ancient).
and holy materia is green. @O@ but whats that yellow orb before cloud fights the real sephiroth? I WANT ANSWER NOW!!!

yes, the cutscene after aeris' death at the waterfall movie thing (XD) shows a close up of the holy materia after it dropped in the water. it was glowing green.
here are some theories on what the orb is supposed to be.

omg that just reminds me of another reason why i don't like AC..
bugenhagen says that the planet created the weapons to destroy all that is bad for the planet. he mentioned that seph might be considered bad, but he also said that maybe humans would be wiped out as well. a direct quote from him, "It's up the planet."
then 500 years later or 400.. they only show nanaki in the future.. have you noticed? no human life visible.. and then there's that creepy human laguhter.. MIDGAR IS HAUNTED! XD

bugenhagen hinted this: that the planet would wipe out the human race.
the ending of the game hinted it: no sign of human life (except the ghost laughter). midgar was left to rot, meaning it was never cleared out or rebuilt pretty much. or SOMETHING must have happened to it. either way, the game itself hints that the in the end, the human race is gone.
