Guilds: Transcend Groups: Addicted to Asian Dramas, Amateur Chefs, Calvin and Hobbes I tend to lean towards eVGA. A brand I'm comfortable with, kind of a bias though, right?
This summer I bought two cards from BFG, a 7600 and an 8800. The 7600 burnt out on me the next day, I hadn't even had a chance to use it to its full potential. Same with the 8800 - You'd think it could have handled a 7 year old game like Counter-Strike, but that was also a bit of a disappointment to me, OCing. A fellow gamer bought the exact same card after I did and found their opinions to be the same. Perhaps it was bad luck on our part, picking up random boxes as a spur of the moment kind of thing... But bad experiences tend to drive me further away than pull me closer. Lately I've been contemplating on building a new computer. Through advice from friends in Comp Sci and common interest forum goers, trying out the XFX 8800GT seems to be something I might be interested in. Usually I'd rather read forums or ask people who I know have actual hands-on experience with these things instead of reading reviews. Welp... I don't know! Probably get it out on a whim. I'll tell you how it goes? :3 Edit: Actually, you know what? I might just wait for the new nV stuff coming in February. Hm. Well, I've waited so long for Intel Penryn I've just figured if I keep waiting I'll be waiting forever. So the last thing I'm waiting for is the new 780i Mobo's which will run SLI as well as my QX9650.
Now it's either one or the other (2 gfx cards in SLI and no quad core, or a quad core and one gfx card), unless I want to go with radeon and a crossfire setup (which I don't). So yeah, I'm going with 2 8800GT cards, just gotta figure which brand. Asus is the one I can get right away, eVGA will take a few weeks and is quite a bit more expensive. Plus I'm not sure the warranty is the same here as in the US.

Groups: Alliance of the Banned From Basil Market, Basil Market's Top Users ;), The Geeks of Profil3 No ASUS? What about Palit? Dx
I don't really get why there have to be brands that produce the same product lol. But, I must say, I prefer some modded ASUS cards to anything. I believe ASUS has an 8800 with a larger fan and heatsink..It's pretty nice and really great for OCing. Then Palit has a modded 8800 with 1gb of memory and a larger fan. Eh, it's relatively the same across the board I guess. Just the small technologies between competitors that make the difference..But one thing I'll never understand is why eVGA, BFG, and XFX feel the need to throw clunky plastic on their cards! It just makes them hotter faster! Dx
