I'm currently inbetween games. Technically I played FFXI, but I really don't like that kind of mmo/mog/online game. I'll blog about what kind of online games I would love to play some other time. Let's see, also played SW:Galaxies. It was crap. I also tried playing it with a 56k modem (I'm poor, alright? They should cut the price of cable modems so that poor gamers like me aren't *excluded*. Hey, another blog! 8-P). Don't worry, I now have DSL and I'm happy with it. ANYWAY, for a couple of years I had a kind of obligated loyalty to Guild Wars. Sorry, ultimately its too hard and you *can't* solo it. No, you can't. I don't care how many henchmen or heroes you have. That leads me to City of Heroes. Yay! Fun game, but eventually I got bored and lonely. Yes, lonely. I know I know, solo-player and all that, but *still*. What's the point of joing a guild if nobody's on?? And what's this crap about booting someone for not logging on for a month or 2? I mean, I have a real life outside of gaming. OK, no I don't but its the principle damnit! AAAnyway, that brings me to DDO. *Yawn* Got bored in a week. Then I tried LOTRO. Pretty good game, but eventually I got bored with that one too. Yet another game with grinding (this time for gold just to maintain your armor 'n' crap). Yet another game where everyone joins a guild but nobody logs in.
Games I'm waiting for/considering: Conan: The Hyborean Age (whatever its called), and a game called Hero's Journey (but I haven't heard about this one in months, I forget the details, but they might have live GMs *O.O* ) Considering: DC Online, Marvel Online, Star Trek Online.
Fond wish: I wish someday some company buys the rights to Star Wars from Sony Crappy Online Entertainment...*sigh*...
A word about WoW and GW: I've had conversations with WOW and Guild Wars players and a couple of things are clear. Too many people are too defensive about liking these games. If you love either of these games, then thats fine with me (no matter how much I will complain about certain aspects of online games). I've never played WOW, but its a *bona fide phenomenon*. You have to recognize that. Its so popular that is reaches a far greater audiences, which is unprecedented. However, "popular" does not equal "good". In this case, whatever levels your character, whatever grats your ping 8-P.
Hey, you made it to the end of the blog! *PING* Grats!
