Well I desided to make a blog about my opinion on Inferno and Mortal Blow. Inferno we all know it as a mobbing skill with a fire attubite, but in my opinion it not such a useful skill as people stack it up to be. Sure there are many monsters weak to fire but there arn't gonna be many rangers training there because of the terrain, even if its a mobbing skill I don't think many people would be even using this skill all to much. I barley see any rangers use inferno even if they have maxed it, during there train they never actually use the skill to much. Personally, I think more people use arrow rain and arrow bomb more. Now to get to Mortal Blow, this is propablly one of the most underrated skills, even if this skill is passive I believe it would be used way more then inferno. Mortal Blow to me replaces regular knockback on monsters with a more powerful blow and a chance to 1HKO it. That is way better, like if a monster spawns on you mortal blow would kick in and either knock it back enough for you to more far enough to strafe it or just 1HKO it. MB would also be efficive during boss battles but I don't think the 1HKO thing works here, but the 50% hp KO would still work so you could kill any boss a lot faster and easily. For the people that say they arn't the melee type if you think about it, if a monster spawns on you, you have no choice but to melee or bust out the arrow rain but with MB you got the one hit and a chunk of an enemies hp down because of MB hit which is 70% chance of working at max (also 250% damage). So, this pretty much sums up my opinion on what skills I'm going to get. (Few typing on sidekick was beastly ) On a side note: My skill build
2 thrust
20 Mortal Blow
21 Inferno
18 Puppet
30 Silver Hawk
30 Arrow Rain
30 Strafe
Or
5 Thrust
20 Mortal Blow
16 Inferno
20 Puppet
30 Silver Hawk
30 Arrow Rain
30 Strafe

Sweet, sweet build. It's easier to customize your build, unlike us...well, I'm having trouble deciding if I should go Thrustless or not.

But on to the topic.

Unlike Blizzard, your Inferno can inflict critical damage. There are more new monsters to come soon, and surely, undead ones will also be there. Mind you, undead monsters have weak resistance to fire. Add to the fact that it crits, it's highly recommended to get Inferno to a high level, IMO. Then again, 16 SP's at Inferno could be enough.=)

As for MB, well, you're talking to an MB build sniper so....no arguments there! Yeah, there used to be a glitch where that <50% HP ~ OHKO can be done on bosses. Idk if they patched that too -_- But yeah, it feels like FA for me, so I have no doubt that I'll max it too! ^^

i think inferno is better than mb, but thats just my take =P

MORTAL BLOW STRAIGHT UP KICKS SOME ASS XD sue its doesn't mob but i got arrow bomb for that =P and its not like im always gonna be killin ice monsters for the rest of my maple time. = but mortal blow is so handy and usefull. When monsters all over you just keep attackin, dont worry about movin out of the way =P Then it does a crap load of damage and its not even that high of a lvl. Then a another thing it can do is 1hit kill a monster not very likely but still its somethin good ot hav =P

hmmm ok I have some stuff to say. Ok MB is really really really sexy, WHEN it activates. I was able to 1hit KO a tanathos before but that only happened once out of hundreds that I killed. But I think it would be much more effective to strafe them than constantly getting almost killed trying to get that 1hit KO again. And I think if you get the 1hit KO when it has max HP you only get half of the EXP, if they didnt patch that. Another time that I wish I had max MB is when I go back to zombies...uh...the old zombie map at z4...... ... which doesnt exist anymore. And every once in a while when I do squid parties sometimes squids do spawn fast so sometimes they do spawn on me and I do MB. It's kinda weak so I dont knock them back and it would be nice if I did. If you solo at squids however, they rarely spawn right on you and you never use MB. BUT! At my lvl you have to party if you want any kind of decent EXP and its funner than soloing anyway. SO yeah, max MB would be nice to have at squids right now. So thats what I have for MB. However, this is what I have against it!~
I feel it would only make squids a bit more convient, it would save like that half a second of walking back and strafing. *and I do care about that 1/2 a second thats why I got the 140% speed and lvl 7 thrust* In my experience MB is ONLY ONLY *ONLY*useful for knocking back HIGH lvl monsters that SPAWN on you, like in the squid party. But in the end I dont really feel its a big deal...I mean sometimes they spawn on me and then I get pwned for a second so I just move a bit and strafe or arrow rain. BUT you would ALWAYS prefer strafe to MB in terms of damage because strafe is 400%~800% damage and max MB is only what 250%? Also, if you are in a mob of a least 3, arrow rain will already do 480%~960% damage. So if you see a mob, Arrow rain FTW, if a single monster, Strafe FTW. Only time I say ouch~ is when a squid decides to spawn right on me, but even then its not a big deal to move a bit, I mean we have been doing that since we were wee little bowmen. (If I want to suggest anything I think max hawk helps a great deal, it saves a ton of pots on those squids in party since we cant use puppet cause of the lag) I think inferno just does way more damage so its better to get that...160%? with criticals? WITH Elemental damage to monsters that are weak to fire?! And actually, I have to say there are times that I wish I had max inferno at squids as well...sometimes when I mob them with puppet it is kinda hard to kill em with arrow rain because you have to get really really close to hit them all. If I get too close they touch me and do major damage, 2 unagis gone. So it wastes time to set up the puppet properly and get exactly close enough to hit them all with rain and not get hit urself. A lot of times I feel lazy and I dont want to deal with it so I just strafe them all to death cause I dont want to worry about positioning myself exactly right to use rain. So yea, I wish I had max inferno it would make things faster and it would do the same damage as rain cause I think squids ignore fire? They arent weak or strong? I dunno but yeah. Another thing, a lot of times I end up using inferno to mob them, as in getting the monsters attention to puppet them all. I have to avoid using arrow bomb because sometimes you dont want to stun the monsters. For example gobys, if you stun them they sink and then you cant kill em. And, when you use puppet you gotta wait for them to move into position after pissing them off right? Well if you use AB to piss them off then you gotta wait until they get unstunned too. So sometimes stun sux...
In summary~

MB ~good when monsters spawn on you
Inferno ~good for mobbin safely at a distance
And from a lvl 106 Ranger doing squid parties, with max rain and max strafe, basically max puppet, what I want most right now is *max hawk*, then max inferno for safety / convience. I still dont really feel a real need for MB. Squids spawning on you isnt a big deal, if it's just one them move and strafe, and if its a mob it's better to rain them.
In reply to BigBates~ you only say that cause you dont have max rain >_<

Nothing like a good old solid text of a post. =)

Plectipoo gave some valid and good points; points which I can't rebutt against because they're true. It's trifle harder for you rangers, since you're supposed to be built for speed. Snipers, are built for power. Some high-leveled snipers want to balance things out, by adding the element of speed in their build --- hence, the SP's on Thrust.

In my case, I believe in maxing out the intended potential of a class. That is why I'm gonna leave Thrust alone, and max MB instead. When I have a sin/dit to party with at the gobies (thank you, QuickJin!), then the Thrust bonus is completely nullified. The maxed potential is also the reason why I regret maxing DS instead of AB --- power concentrated into one shot = pure ownage. I know I will leave out the fact that I can train faster with Thrust, but I think that I'm satisfied with the stats that I will have in the near future. =)

I think that inferno pwns mb but yeah that's just me. I like your first build because I think Thrust is pretty useless because by that level you're probably going to have speed equips and crap
