So, working in retail officially sucks balls. Big, fat, hairy, smelly, crab-infested balls. LOL.
My manager has been getting onto me about using my phone. Okay, the first day I was there I discreetly used my phone to make a couple of texts, but I made sure to hide it away from the customers. The next day I was working with my manager, and the store hadn't opened so I pulled out my phone to text my sister that I was at work and would call her later. He was like, "Oh I don't THINK SO! Nuh-UH, girl!" and made me put it away after he lectured me about using my phone on the floor. He said "If you HAVE to use your phone, go into the back room." Ok, no problem. So the next day, my manager is off but I've got his words in the back of my head when I get there and I very politely go the back room twice to use it to text the people I was talking to that I was at work and couldn't talk.
I get this phone call (on the store phone) from Anthony: (my manager)
A: "I see you using your phone. I may not be in the store but I have the security cameras at my house and I can see you.
ME: -blink- "Eh? I didn't use my phone..." O_o
A: "Girl, I can see you."
ME: -blinkblink- (CREEPY!) "Ok, I might have used my phone once or twice to check the time, but I made sure that if I was going to text, I would go to the back room."
A: "I can't just have you running to the back room all the time. (WHICH I WASN'T) It's unfair to my employees if they can't use their phone and they see you using yours. I want to treat my employees with respect and care and blah blah...If you don't have anything to do, ask the other girls. There's always sorting, tagging, and colorizing to be done."
ME: "Ok, sure."
A: "Girl, are you okay? You sure you don't wanna talk about anything? You don't have any questions or anything?"
ME: "No. I'm fine."
A: "Ok, baby. I'm just trying to figure you out." (Yes, he calls me baby. I find that obnoxious)
Now I'm sorry, but that's like the WORST thing you can say to me. If you want to know something about me, HOW ABOUT YOU FUCKING ASK ME. Don't sit there and try to "figure me out." Because you will almost always be wrong. I know, I'm a confusing different person and sometimes that's a little hard to get wrapped around your tiny little skulls. But if you want to know, just talk to me! I'm not going to bite your head off, I don't speak a foreign language and I'm not mean! Honestly, I'm like the nicest person once you get to know me. Yeah, I'm quiet but I just started this new job! I'm trying to keep my head down and learn as much as I can so I don't keep asking the other girls for help. And it's not like they like me anyway! They refuse to include me in their conversations and treat me like dirt. It's like fucking highschool all over again - I'm the new girl at the lunch table.
And another thing - do you realize how fucking CREEPY it is to have somebody constantly watching you? I get the concept of security cameras, but to have Anthony at home, watching me for god knows how long? That's just fucking creepy, I'm sorry. I GET that I am the new girl and that he wants to keep an eye on me. It's still creepy that he watches me... AND that he doesn't trust me! Hey idiot, you're the fucker that hired me!
Goddamnit, I am so over this job. He treats me like I'm another highschool dropout that isn't responsible and can't handle things. Look pal, I'm 21 years old. I'm in the process of getting my life in order and I have been responsible and mature enough to handle anything since I was 15. (when my mom left my dad and I had to fill in her place to take care of my younger siblings) I wish you'd just leave me the fuck alone and let me do my damn job.
If it wasn't a decent source of income, I'd have quit yesterday.
