Hi everyone

This is basically to inform everyone that I will be cutting down the time on which I spend on Basilmarket to a minimum. I intend on quitting entirely for the time being although I will first finish helping the few who I am currently active in tech-supporting.

Not sure whether I'll resign as a mod for now. I'll see how things go as far as avoiding the site is concerned. One truly doesn't realize how addicted to a site they can become until they leave it.

Why the sudden decision? Well, it's my last year of high school with my Preliminary exams in August and Matriculation exams in October/November fast approaching, I need to spend all the time I can in making an effort towards passing the first time. I have never failed a year and certainly do not wish to. Anyway, I find myself with too little time in my day to spend time on both Basilmarket AND my studies and so with my own best interest in mind, I've come to this decision. It's unfortunate, but I consider it necessary. Please try to see this from my point of view rather than attempt to discourage my decision.

In summary: Please, no pming me on Basilmarket, OR profil3 in place of Basilmarket. I'll still be somewhat active on Profil3, although probably not in moderating here either. I'll probably be back on Basilmarket again in November, or perhaps if I have time before then from time to time on weekends maybe, or a tiny bit in the evenings. I'll have to see how things go with my new schedule.

Regards to all

I think you made a wise decision. Your study is more important than a forum filled with ba- uh.... people.
Good luck with your preliminaries and what you want to do after you've passed them. At the same time you're going to have your exams I'll probably be sweating over a couple or resits.... >

The word "Matriculation" made me realise how "Alpha" (Bad at science, good at languages) I am.

Good luck, see you later. "

I'd like to maybe do a few Java programming courses by Sun Microsystems. If I can get a student position/job at the same company where my dad works, except on the development side of things, they might pay for all the courses too.

Anyway, first I have to pass my exams though. It'll be a disaster if I have to redo anything. Luckily if I were to fail anything, I'd only have to redo the particular subject/s for a year, but still, it would be a huge disappointment.

so what are you going to be when you grow up?

Either a programmer or a graphics designer of some sort. For now, as I said above, I'm hoping to learn a bit of java to see if it's the type of thing I could enjoy doing.

Sad to see that you'll be leaving us for now, but I agree that studies should always take precedent. You've done a lot for Basil (probably more than I realize) and helping me out as a new moderator, which I thank you for. Hope to see you back around these parts once you've finished school and secured a foothold in whatever's next on your agenda.

School> SW> Lulzmarket.

Have fun studying.

Good luck.

Thanks for all your help. Come back soon < 3

You've supported me a bunch, always had a strong answer ready to any of my tough questions. You know what you did. Thank you so much for countless times. I would say in more detail, but I don't want to make this blog uncomfortable. Selfishly looking at this, I can only see the loss of a counselour, mentor even. That's how I see you. But, as you said before (and this always is going to stick with me), all things work together for good and I don't want you to have any regrets. I'm awaiting your Victorious return.

Probably not too much difference with the local South African exams. Although our "summer" break is a 3-4 week winter break.
But yeah, being homeschooled, I'm on the Cambridge International HIGCSE system which is quite challenging... I get no holidays this year.

Nope, although cutting down on that a bit in the mornings (for me, GMT +2) too.
