Resident Evil 5 is gonna own. - 360, Africa, Parasites, PS3, Resident Evil

I just saw the latest trailer for RE:5 and now I want it more than ever.

If you're not familiar with Resident Evil, it is a zombie shooter, with it's latest installments being an over-the-shoulder camera, letting you get an in-depth feel of being attacked by the infected. However, despite RE's zombie roots, Capcom has transitioned to a much more challenging, (and disturbing) concept. In RE:4, the people were not actually undead, but were taken over by a parasite called "las plagus" meaning "The Plague." Now in the upcoming RE:5, an innocent village is once again taken over by a parasite, but this parasite seems different than the type encountered in RE:4. Comparing the enemies from the two games reveals some distinct differences. The ganados, or "the cattle", (describing villagers infected with the parasite in RE:4) were generally somewhat slow moving, but the infected in RE:5 are frighteningly quick, (think 28 Days Later) and there're are about 20 of them coming for you at once. Not only that, but the parasites themselves can attack you as well. In RE:4, you would've had to shoot off an enemies head for a chance of las plagus coming out to attack you, but not anymore. Now if an enemy grabs you, the parasite can reach out from it's host's mouth and tear away at your face, then retreat back inside the host when you break away. It's really much better to see for yourself, the horrors that await. I've added some gameplay videos farther down to show you what's in store for us March, Friday the 13th, of 2009.
I have learned a few new things about the game after watching a gameplay, on demand short. The new girl character is named Sheva (sheh-vuh) and she is your A.I. controlled partner. It is possible to play as her because the game will be co-op over Xbox LIVE and Playstation Online. The demonstrator said you should be able to join your friend immediatley if he or she is playing.
The standard suitcase menu is now believed to have been replaced by a quick item menu the resembles a 3x3 item box that appears on screen at the push of a button. This new menu does not offer the safety of a pause-like window because gameplay is still going on around you. A pause button is still there, but it does not take you to a menu. I believe you can set certain items to a button for even quicker use.
More actions have been added to interact with your partner. When playing alone, whenever you come across an item, it will have a button to press to have Chris pick it up or another button to have Sheva pick it up. Their inventories are seperate so making sure they both have enough ammo and health adds a new strategy to the game. You can even ask your A.I partner to give you one of their guns to use, (Chris asked for Sheva's Rifle in the middle of combat and she threw right to him.) Of course your partner should never be without a firearm, because if your partner dies, it's game over. There are also segments where Chris will launch Sheva to higher ground and she can give cover fire for Chris or vice versa. One example had Chris help toss Sheva onto a building across the street and enemies began to flood her building. Using the Rifle she loaned you, you would have to help pick off enemies so she could unlock the door to the building Chris threw her from and they could make it outside.
