Guilds: RisingHeroes
Groups: Anti-Hackers United, Bera Player, West Coast Maplers Alliance!
I am willing to give this new system a try, and I'll do my best to help make it work. As I see it, there are two significant challenges that we face.
First, although we are all part of the Rising Heroes Family, the new system creates real divisions between us. There is no Alliance BBS, making
it difficult to communicate with the entire group (to plan and coordinate GPQ's, for example). So far, we cannot even do GPQ's as an Alliance,
so the pool of people who would like to do GPQ's has been splintered, and the efforts we have made at training ourselves are stalled. These
things we might be able to get around by using Profil3, if we can get enough people (everyone?) to sign up, and/or if Nexon can come up with
an Alliance patch soon.
But the most significant challenge is how the new system is perceived by the members. How do we distribute the existing members of the RH
Family into the new linked guilds in a way that seems fair, so that everyone feels like they are a full member of the family, and nobody feels
like they are getting sloughed off? As it stands now, nearly all of the core members are in RisingHeroes and RHPenguins, while RHNihilists
and RHSteelHeroe are composed of newer/younger members. Nihilist has expressed concern to me that he lacks support from the core players
(not his words, but my interpretation), and I have no idea how Curswig is faring. I believe that it is crucial in the next few days/weeks to
communicate to everyone why this is a good idea and what role each of the new guilds plays. What is the overall strategy, and what are
we trying to achieve in the end?
I share Malak's concern about growing too big and too fast -- it will take time to recruit "quality members" to our family, since ideally, you
would like to get to know someone at least a little before inviting them into the guild/alliance. I think that RHPenguins has a fighting chance,
but the new guild leaders -- especially Nihilist and Curswig -- will have to be patient, and they will need any assistance the RH Family can
give them.
As I have said before, I joined RH out of the blue (pure dumb luck), but I stayed because I really like the group, and I feel like I have made
some good friends. I have been impressed with your approach to leading the guild, and I continue have faith in you. In the end, if the
worst case scenario does come to pass, I hope we can reform the original RH -- and that there will be room for me.
