-sigh- I tried to start my dad's computer this morning..... but it didn't respond. I checked if all the wires and plugs were in place (he so now and then removes all the plugs) and they were, and when I touched the backside of my computer my hand got ZAPPED ("OWA-OOWWWWWWWW! FUCK! C-WORD! *NAME OF MY PHILOLOGY TEACHER*"

So I guess it's broken. While I'm having a LOT of assignments to redo. Aaargh.

I won't be able to Maple either, which is a bummer, especially now many CB skills were altered and improved. (Yay, Nexon!)

So I'm here.... on a slow university computer that's secured against downloads....

If you're lucky, it should only be the power supply that's dead.

I hope so too. It was working just fine yesterday and none of us has been knocking the thing over or so.

We do have a little history of stepping on and tripping over wires. I once busted out the portal the mouse goes in. Now the mouse goes into the Memory Stick entrance. =-_-=
Bands: No bands, but Rolf Koster, Uwe Kroger, Addo Kruizinga (as Rudolf and Death)

Yeah, worst I do is trip over my headphone wire sometimes. Luckily my setup isn't so that I can trip over stuff much, and I haven't done any major damage. As far as power supplies are concerned though, they're usually like $20-30. Fairly easy to replace too.

Don't you know touching some parts of the back of the computer or the back/bottom of the DVD does that?
It can be annoying but I guess you only got zapped once and left, once I had to fix the DVD and it happened to me like 10 times in a row.

Lol Poor Tou. Good luck.
Bands: Aural Vampire, Game Soundtracks

I rofl'd at that. Not at the fact that you got hurt, but how you reacted. o.o

Well, good luck in getting the computer fixed... or whatever you do.

So... you press the button and it doesn't switch on? Or does it switch on? If you lived any closer, I could swap a PSU for free but you'll have to pay for the material though
Bands: *checks playlist* To many to list.

That reminds me when I was young and discovered the wonders of electricity. I put a broken lightbulb in the power sockets.
Go me.

I don't know much about how to solve that, but I guess it should be the power supply as others said.
Bands: The Killers,System of a Down,The White Stripes,Billy Talent,The Darkness,RHCP

That shock you described COULD have fried your motherboard, I hope not though. That is a pain in the butt to replace...
Bands: Wow, that's just too broad of question to answer...

Ouch, that's bad. My computer died a while back before (as I am sure you read). It is indeed very annoying to deal with. Well, it was for me because I am on the computer a good deal.

As for what's wrong. No idea
Have you taken it anywhere yet to see if a professional could tell you what's wrong? I took my computer to the local (ha, like 20 miles away) Best Buy and they'd diagnosed it for free. It was just a basic one though because it was a simple problem: Fried motherboard -_-
Bands: SOAD, Mudvayne, Metallica, In Flames, Godsmack, etc
