So I've been wanting to learn drums for a while, and just recently actually started taking lessons.
Was pretty excited for a while about it, then I finally show up for my first lesson
I stand around for 30 mins AFTER my appointment, until he actually shows up.
I forgive him, and he gives me a lesson for free. Kewl eh?
The next week I show up and he's actually on time *Le-gasp* That lesson went pretty well. I got my drum HW and left.
I come back the next week and he's on time again. I'm starting to forget about the first week. The lesson goes well, but when it's time for him to give me myhomework, it turns out he forgot it. He said I did well that week, and said I really didn't need homework. (I really didn't believe him, but there wasn't anything I could do about it.)
I show up the next week about 5 mins late, so I felt kinda bad.. I finish up w/ the lesson, and guess what? No HW again.
How am I supposed to get ANY better if He can't even give me homework?
I eventually get over it and move on.
I come in the next week, somewhat happy that I already made it thru a month of lessons (not very fruitful tho >.> .
I sit around for 10 mins. No show.
20 minutes. No show.
At 30 mins his next appointment shows up and he's still not there. I said screw it, and just left.
My teacher is a flake. >.>
No call or anything.
If everything doesn't go PERFECT this next week, imma find a different teacher..

Ah, I love drums. Drummers, too, it's awesome seeing how well some people play.
Gah, my guitar teacher also says that I do well and stuff too. He doesn't really teach me as much as I'd like, so I'm probably going to switch.

Dudeman, you can't be reliant on a teacher to give you homework if that's the only way you think you can get better. Trust me, half of my improvement (if not more) on the drums are from me practicing and experimenting with beats and fills without a teacher.

You won't get better by simply doing homeworks. Try learning some basic songs, experiment beats and stuff.
Bands: Ensiferum, Eluveiti, Cryonic Temple, Amon Amarth,Wintersun,Many others
I have been, and I know that's how I'm gonna get better eventually.
But I'm still just learning. I need to know the basics first, before I can start to teach myself.
And it's gotten much better, there was a mix-up with some things... But yeah.
Bands: August Burns Red, The Devil Wears Prada, Haste the Day, The Agony Scene, AILD
