General Information:

• Most specific IRC Guide on BasilMarket - strongly supported by EluNirvelli and suama
• A very simple, yet specific guide
• I like to lie. This isn't official.

THIS IS Basil IRC!

Yes, Basil IRC. The godliest IRC would've ever used in your own lives.

If you've never heard of IRC, I'll give you a brief summary.
IRC stands for 'Internet Relay Chat', and by the name, you would infer basic chatting like AIM and MSN, but it's a huge chatroom consisting of your fellow Basilers.

Anyhoo, there are many ways to get to Basil IRC. :3

Available for any OS:

• If you never been to Basil IRC, or used an IRC client before, then I suggest you go to this page or or this page. Although this does not require an IRC client, it is constructed well enough for Basil Chatting - credits to sano for constructing it and credits to gimmini for the extra link.
Notice: MUST HAVE JAVA ENABLED OR IT WILL NOT WORK! Also, it looks very ugly.

• If you have Mozilla Firefox as your default browser (which most of you use

), then I suggest you get this FireFox add-on called ChatZilla. Don't worry, it takes seconds to download, regardless of slow internets.

Once you've downloaded it and restarted FireFox, go to Tools > Chatzilla and BOOM! You've launched Chatzilla!
TO CONNECT TO BASIL IRC, TYPE IN '/server quakenet' AND THEN TYPE IN '/join #BasilMarket' AFTER THE FIRST THING LOADS.

For Windows only users:

• xCHAT is pretty good. Best if you don't have Firefox, or you think you're too "leet" for the two other websites.

• LimeChat is pretty decent. If you're an Omar-fan, then get this.

For Linux only users:
This is a challenge. I currently have Ubuntu-Linux, but I was solemnly helped by a fellow friend DarkWater.
The two clients are:
• BitchX PICTURE OF BitchX
• Irssi PICTURE OF Irssi
Now, I believe about 2% ~ 5% of the Basil Population uses Linux.
If you absolutely WANT to use either BX or Irssi, then you'll have to PM DarkWater.
Or just send him a message on Basil IRC (/msg Nickk (what you want to ask him here))

Again, I have to say that these clients are recommended by me, and the majority of users use them. You'll have to download clients, if you're not using the Internet Web Page clients.

I have to stress this many times. Most IRC clients are similar, but if you're REALLY into IRC and going to use it often (like everyday), then download mIRC

HOW TO CONNECT TO BASIL IRC

Basil IRC runs on a server called Quakenet.
In this server, there are infinites of amounts of channels in which you can join to chat.
For example, to connect to a server, you do /server (server name here)
If you wanted to join a channel, you would do /join #(channel name here)

So, to get to #BasilMarket, just type in the following:
/server quakenet
(wait 10 seconds...)
/join #basilmarket

...and BOOM! You're in!

Quick tips to #BasilMarket

Once you joined the channel, you'll see the names of users, the topic, etc.
NOW BEFORE YOU GO CRAZY PLEASE READ THIS
Q is a Channel Bot. It keeps everything in order.
|Flame| is basically a Channel Security Bot. It helps keep off spam, cussing, flooding, etc.

• 1) Do not cuss. Why? Because |Flame| will ban you, and you will not be unbanned for 24 hours; unless an Op unbans you.
• 2) Do not spam. Why? The Op's (Omar, Misa, etc) do not like spam. They despise it. You would most likely be autokicked/autobanned by |Flame|, but in certain situations, the mods will take action and either ban you for a week or ban you permanently in some cases.
• 3) Do not be a bitch. Why? No body loves bitches.

Why come to Basil IRC?

We're not forcing you to come, but we hope you do because we're getting lots more members by the day!

That means more talking and more energy in the channel!
