It's not so much the effects that they had on his character, it's the fact that they tormented him so much. Even if he is a normal kid. He was like nine years fucking old. You DON'T do that to nine year olds. This kid will probably hate his brothers for a LONG time. These grudges can have serious effects on fucking nine year olds.
Those brothers were teens, they should be more mature that that. Fuck them.
