Legendary Map Pack - Halo, Halo 3, Legendary, Map, Misacorp, Pack, Sidewinder

The Legendary Map Pack will feauture 3 maps; Ghost Town, Avalanche and an unknown map referred to as Moonlight Sonata. It will be making its appearance on the Xbox Live Marketplace on the 15th of April for a total of 800 Microsoft Points.

I'll briefly go through what is known about the maps so far.

Ghost Town

First announced in a Weekly Update a few weeks ago Ghost Town is a brand new map. It is set in the jungle of Sierra 117. The wrecked structures of failed human civilization are dominated by large amounts of vegetation. Ghost Town is a small-mid sized map feauturing a Sniper Rifle, Rocket Launcher and 2 Mongooses. It is characterised as a multi-level map where death can be poured from the catwalks above.

Avalanche

Announced today (Wednesday 3/19) Avalanche is a snowy U-shaped canyon taking place on the unfinished Installation 04. It is said to be a power facility which extracts energy from thick and dense ice. As the only known remake in the pack Avalanche highly resembles the beloved Sidewinder from Halo: Combat Evolved with its chilly atmosphere and layout. There is no doubt that Sidewinder would not be big. In fact it has been said to be bigger than Sandtrap - the biggest map so far in Halo 3.

Avalanche will focus players on vehicular combat by introducing a new weakened Hornet and the Scorpion tanks in its default setup. UNSC vehicles on Avalanche have been custom painted to fit into the snowy scene. The bases have seen a makeover since Halo 1. There are now new ways in to and out of the base, including a mancannon leading to an infantry section in the middle of the map. The central tunnels have been removed to maintain the outside combat situations.

Pretty awesome if you ask me. Sidewinder was my all time favourite map and I'm going to enjoy it no matter what. The Heroic Map Pack will be released free of charge before the 15th and it will be fun to be able to forge Foundry with the people that weren't able to do it before.
