Am I a little too late to reply? Well, Basil really has not change. Just the fact we all lose interest at some point and more people believe being rude is "cool".
You are right about the math however. It seems people do not pay attention to the tiniest details that stands out obvious with its own rule. I tried that question with some of my friends awhile back, most of them think I am lying and the calculator is wrong. I constantly tell them that without the parenthesis, the negative does not apply while doing the equation. Remember some people are here with you.

Guilds: FormerShikgu's, Kokuren, Shikgu Groups: Anime & Manga, Bera Player, Europe Maplestory I gave up on basil. For some reason I can no longer access the site from my home PC, so I used it as the perfect excuse.
These days whenever I visit it's the same damn few threads reposted in every section of the site, with nobody having any real knowledge anymore. In short, i'm glad I don't go back very often >_>;
