If you watched Death Note and you remember the part right after L let Light & Misa out of their confinement, I feel like L did at that moment: depressed. Not in life in general; but in Basilmarket, and the decisions being made there. I feel like L when he thought he had reached his goal and then he got it taken away from him because of careless errors he made. Then he began to not really care anymore. Not really care about anything really. Completely apathetic because his goal could never be reached.

It was only a matter of time before he was gone by then.

He could only hope that someone capable would succeed him after he was gone.

Not really. I watched the english subtitled version a while ago. So I knew of this before. However, I did watch the english dub earlier today. So I guess it helped me to connect my current feelings with this episode.

thats deep bobo. I feel you, man. I went through 6 months of depression from ages 10- 10 1/2. I don't know why, but i was depressed. Now i am 12, and life is looking up.

hope you get through your basil depression, i am struggling too.
