I know this can't be helped, but I can't stand the astonishing number of people who can't even speak or write proper English.

So please:
Learn how to use the proper tense of a word
Learn how to write without using run on sentences or fragments

It has really gotten out of hand, I can't understand basic sentences anymore. I read a book review a fellow classmate wrote, it was somewhat like this:

"I read this book. I liked it a lot. I think you should read it. The author uses a lot of cool imagry. Sometimes I can feel like I was there."

>_>

-sings-

"A loaded gun complex; cock it and pull it."

Edit (added): Oh, and I forgot. I hate people who say "Why do you put a ">_>" "=]" "._." "=x" "" or other faces at the end of every sentence on MSN/Maple?"

Its very simple, if you think logically.

You see, being on the internet, viewing words transmitted via text, sometimes its difficult to know what direction or mood someone says something in. If someone says "Lets go do something =]" They are saying it in a way that implys "hey, what are we waiting for? Lets go! yay!" If they say "Lets go do something x_x" they are saying it in a way that implys "I'm really bored, lets do something before I just log off"

ITS NOT HARD TO UNDERSTAND.

I know how you feel. I am Dutch myself, and a student of English. The English I see in game.... It hurts my Anglist eyes.

"y u hekk? h4x0rz suk ass!"

I understand that when you're NOT a Thief and there's no "safety rope" nearby you might use abbreviations and acronyms, but otherwise....

I wrote an essay about that kind of writing once and interviewed a few Basillers about it; they told me they wrote that way because:

1. They don't want to die while typing. (understandble, but when you're a Thief there's less reason to worry)
2. They hate long words (So do I; I also use abbreviations like "CB", "Ludi" and "LMPQ"
3. They're lazy (hehe)
4. They're trying to bypass the spell checker ("WTF" is not recognised as a swear, where as "what the f*ck" is)
5. They think it's part of the computer "culture" and think it makes them look cool and blends them in with the "hard core gamers". (Basic translation: It's "1337"

And emoticons are just.... uh... part of the game. ^_~

I got a good grade for the essay, by the way.
Bands: No bands, but Rolf Koster, Uwe Kroger, Addo Kruizinga (as Rudolf and Death)
