Anyhoo, I can draw heads and facial features very well, but I cannot seem to make the joints look natural. They seem robotic and sticky (as in the tree kind) Please help if you can; I'd appreciate it.~ | |

Well I can draw my hand, like a close-up of my hand if I look at my right hand (I'm a lefty) and then draw it, but I can't use that idea to shrink it down and make the proportions right to fit my drawings. Anyways, if you're good like that, just try looking at your other hand and drawing a close-up of it, just practice it. Then you can try shrinking it down onto your character after using the same basic idea you did for your close-up. Or you can borrow and anatomy book for the right porportions and what not. For the feet, you can get pictures of other people standing in the way you want with whatever shoes you want and then try to uses some practicing skills on that. Same basic thing.
But I can't help but feel your pity~! I suck at hands so most of my drawings have their hands behind thir backs, which usually works since I usually draw shy characters. At the moment I'm trying to work on the shoe problem and maybe even the eye problem. Developing a style can always take a sharp turn into another path/

Guilds: LunarMoon, LunarMoon/MoonDragons, MoonDragons Groups: Anime Artists, artists!, Bera Player You're welcome! I'm glad you found my uh... review(?) awesome. Another consideration could be a 3D Poser (I don't know if there's a free one out there). It's sort of like an anatomy book simulator. In a way. Anyways, it's pretty good if you can't find a pose you want in the anatomy book. It'll let you form your own pose.

I took a photo of my own hand, and I pretty much shrink it down when I need it. As for feet, they end up looking like miniature hills

The best way to learn how to draw hands is to look at your own hands and look on tutorials online--I recommend looking in deviantart(deviantart(dot)com) tutorials. Also, read a lot of good manga and take notes of it. I always read Naruto and have a pencil and paper with me so when i see cool hand/feet poses i sketch them out and draw them over AND over again until I feel comfortable about the drawing.
My sis always says that if you think that you're drawing is not good enough, then others will think that too. Drawing is a matter of patience, practise and hard study. Just keep drawing until you feel comfortable, then you can find you're own style. I'll probably put up a hand tutorial soon so you can look Good luck!
