I had the strangest, but possibly the greatest or worst idea some time ago. It's titled "The Basilmarket Lottery"
Why would something like this be suitable for Basil? I really don't know. I just thought it would be a fun addition to the otherwise versatile site we have now.
On another forum site which few of you might be familiar with, a member is selected every week on random. What happens then is:
1) The winner gets interviewed, gets to ask the next winner a question and then the interview is made publically available.
2) The winner the ability to upload custom avatars for themself.
3) The winner gets the ability to have a 2nd name / personal message under their forum nick.
These same "prizes" would obviously not work on Basil, apart from the first one. (Then again who knows what MrBasil might agree to). So I'm asking you as a reader and community member, what ideas would you have for a Basilmarket Lottery?
PLEASE NOTE: This has not been discussed AT ALL with MrBasil and there are absolutely NO guarantees that a feauture like this will ever be implemented.

It would be something permanent that never dissapears, unless the feature is being abused by the winner.

The Winner is featured on the front page on banner right in the middle. and when they post, their post has a shiny border [or color of their choice] around it.

I think that something should happen to the format of their post that makes them stand out. Sort of like Squiggy said with the shiny border or something else. But nothing too stand-out(ish) because then it will be seen all over the place with the more and more winners.
I know that you said nothing temporary, misacorp, but I think that part of it should be temporary (and very extreme) and then after the temporary effect runs out (probably after the week that they win the lottery) they get some permanent effect that is considerably milder than the temporary one.
I hope that this makes sense. =/

I kind of like the shiny border thing. People love customization. I also liked the interview thing. Might not even have to be a lottery per se, but more like a "basiler of the week" or something. They could have a little space on the frontpage that features them. I guess mods would have to do the interviews.
