um if you use the recipe on the back of the hershey's cocoa powder box, it tastes delicuious =) I don't know what you would do for vanilla frosting... Just don't add cocoa? play around... And i couldn't find the recipe

The milk ruined your icing because of the egg whites. Their purpose in the icing is to make stiff peaks and make it to spread
 the milk just turned it into a custard/flan type mixture
