Here is T's official review guitar hero 3.The game rocks in every way, literally. Just like the originals, except with a few things thrown in, gh3 is the crowning achievement. Obviously, you mimic playing a guitar by pushing buttons that act as strings and strumming the guitar as notes fly down the screen. Basically, it's the ultimate test of multi tasking. Also, a change from the earlier guitar heroes is that there are more current songs mixed with old ones, which is nice.
I'll start with story mode. Just like before, you need story mode to unlock all the songs and stuff, and also to earn moneys to buy new characters, guitars, and bonus songs. However, there are a few tweaks: 1. There are now animations in between each section of songs. 2. There are encores, which are basically extra songs at the end, and a few boss battles. I'll get to those in a minute. 3. There's a co-op career that you need to beat to get all the songs. 4. The hardest song is the song you play during the end credits.
They've also added a new mode, called battle mode, which works instead of the whoever-has-the-highest-score-wins game. In battles, your main goal is to make your opponent fail. You do this by hitting battle notes, which can do stuff like cut a string so they have to press whatever button continulously before you can get back in, or hit them with a whammy bar, which makes them have to press the whammy bar before they can play. It's very interesting, and serves as a nice way to have a competition and to do boss battles.
Also, the graphics have been given a boost. Other than that, the game is the same game that you know and love. My favorite song, personnaly, is through fire and flames by dragonforce, which is basically the hardest song in the game. 7 AND A HALF MINUTES OF AXEL GRINDAGE BABY! So, I'm going to give this a 9.5!
