I'm testing new and improved ways of rotoscoping lightsabers, I wanna see what people think is the best(compared to the movies). I found that my old way was.. too spread out, not thick enough, and the previous method of changing the color balance ended.. badly in my opinion.so I checked the movies, and I was right! So I developed a few of my own ways of doing it.

Pic 1: My variation, and my favorite of the 2. When I looked at the movies, I found that the glow changed from distance between the camera. For example: when it was colse up, they made the glow wider, and kinda made it one solid colored glow, rather then being deeper closer to the core. When it was close to the camera, they lowered the glow radias to.. very small, and glot rid of the.. ummm.. how would I say it.. further out glow,(like when it gets less deep) so by my distance from the camera I think I got it about right. I think the picture is a little too deep.. maybe lowering it a bit would be better.

Pic 2: This was my original method from a tutorial.. he's more a video guy, so he does it with Adobe After Effects which comes out WAY better(pretty much doing it like my way), doing the exact way of Photoshop.

Oh, and if anyone knows a good color for purple or blue, please tell me.. red and green is simple.. solid red or green. They use a different color blue, and for purple.. I don't even know.

I feel it is important to define the shape of the saber blade, being similar to a katana. In the prequels, the blade was easily defined.

As for the glow of it, I like what you are doing. But in real life, considering that lighsabers ARE real, the outer glow would seem larger and noticeable closer up. Though the movie did not incude it, perhaps you can consider it.

Remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Whatever you like the most, you should do.

Well, I'm still tinkering with it, trying to find what I like best. I've been trying multiple different formulas, some including a wider outter glow after the initial one..... hmm, you've forced me to go off and tinker more
