Yeah.... well, I think it's hardly possible or impossible at all to banish religion from society. people from a certain religious viewpoint are going to make their own political party (in the Netherlands we have loads of political parties that all have their won idea) and people who share that viewpoint are going to vote for them. We have three major Christian parties:

- The CDA; the mildest party (Christian Democratic *word that does not exist in English*)
- The CU (Christian Union) a more strict party that's opposed to especially homosexuality
- The SGP (Social Reformed Party) which is in my opinion prett anti-social, cause they want to remove women from politics, completely abolish gay marriage and I believe prevent teachers from telling their pupils about the evolution theory.

All these parties, exept the CDA, claim to know exactly what God wants. >_> And God wants no abortions, no homosexuality, no evolution and, according to the SGP, women should rear children and then.... yeah..... maybe they'll be allowed to have a job after that.

As I clearly indicated, I also don't like it when people use (or abuse) a diety for political gain.

What the (female, BTW, and ex prostitute) leader of the CU said in the newsdpaper today: "God must be brought back to this country, because if people stop believing bad things will happen to fill up the void (what void? I don't have a void); either Islam will rush in or worse: humanism. This country will be even more moralless (gay marriage!) than it already is now."

Bitch.

Sorry, I really dislike her. I have quite some gay friends and 4 of them are happily married to people of the same gender.

We've had non religious parties at the top, but they always worked in a coalition with one of more religious parties..... I hope the CU and the SGP will never end up there. But the SGP is not very popular because it discriminates women and the CU is falling apart because of the gay dilemma... so with a bit of good luck we won't hear from those parties any more.

But hey, the CDA is pretty okay. They're in favour of gay marriage and abortion (under certain circumstances, I think) Shows not all Christians are bad.

By far not all. The vicar of the church I went to some weeks ago (Mom's order; someone had to hold the "vase for charity"

held a flaming sermon about how gay people are being discriminated and how that discrimination is actually bullshit and that they are people and should have the right to get married and be happy, etc etc..... I'm starting to like the guy more and more. XD

My father isn't opposed to gay people, but he just can't get used to them. XD I think he's a little scared of them.

A wise man once said about Holland: "In Holland there aren't 20 parties, but 17 million and they all have their own opinion and plans."

And there he's right.

Yeah, it's so hard NOT to insult someone when you're talking about religion..... though I think Basilers sometimes play victim to start a flame war or to have a legitimate reason to curse you to hell.... I once disagreed with someone calling science stupid and then he began screaming "OMG U ANTICHRIST U HATE GOD U WILL GO 2 HELL" just because I said science is not stupid!

And when I said religism is against the constitution of my country (this one had been bashing muslims) he said my country would be going to hell as a whole, because pretty much every holy book is religist; therefore my country hates god and is antichrist. Bullshit; a Christian party is at the head of the parliament at the moment. It's been there for more than 16 years straight.

Meh.

I'm surprised to see someone who loves the Beatles, by the way.

I have not heard much of it ("Let it be" is beautiful and a friend of mine spent 15 minutes blustering the chorus of "Yellow Submarine" in my ear), but what I heard was cool. Isn't "Hello Darkness my old Friend" of (at least one of) the Beatles? I performed it myself in a choir. I like it a lot.
