Ok, I see what you mean. In the long run it wouldn't have helped me anyway, since the things I want to "sacrifice" always end up working =/. For some reason I was thinking through this like a ladder of events so to speak, sort of like a pedigree from biology, with each prior event having an effect on the next one, but I guess since scrolls aren't blood-linked, that wouldn't come into effect.
Thanks for the help =). I'll run through the combinations when I manage to locate my old statistics notes, since it does look familiar, and trying to re-learn math concepts on wikipedia has always been...not a great idea for me. Thanks

Unfortunately, even if we had learned about combinations in 10th grade i've long since forgotten it
 . Can you, if you have a chance, clarify what the "yCx" in the equation "(p)^x * (1-p)^(y-x) * yCx" is, as in what do you do there? The closest thing I can remember to combinations is summation, although that doesn't seem to work out in this equation.I just had the idea the other day, whether sacrifice scrollling does work to an extent or not. Since the probability of failing 3 or 4 in a row is so low, I was assuming that would raise the probability of one passing, otherwise it would be something like a 34.3% chance of the 3rd scroll failing, then 30% chance of it working, then empty space. But assuming it raised the chance of it passing, I tried it out, failed 3 in a row on a throwaway equip, and pssed a 30% on my sword. I guess overall my question was/is, was that 30 passing a coincidence/luck, or did it actually help to fail a few first? It's been bugging me lately since I'm torn between the mobs of people who say sac scrolling works, and the probably equally large mob of people that say it doesn't, and I don't have enough scrolls to do my own experimentation anymore (since the 30 that I "tested" was my last one).

Hey I had a quick maple/math problem I was hoping you can answer for me, since i've forgotten pretty much everything I've learned about probability.
I've been thinking about scrolling probabilities, and I was wondering, first off, is the chance of scrolls failing consecutively, %^(number of fails)? Say, I'm scrolling 3 30%s, and they all fail in a row. Would the chance of that event happening be .343, or .7^3? Or am I thinking through this incorrectly.

Thanks a lot with the calculations. As for the SuperSnowboard, I'm very sure that those don't exist in gMS. For Enrage, I know there's a cooldown time, but I forgot how long it was. I'll have to check, but I'm pretty sure there was a lengthy wait. Edit: I think I might've found an error? Single Targets: Paladin - For 1h, 51,489 vs. neutral, 57,925 vs. ice, 66,200 vs. fire, 68,959 vs. lightning, 77,234 vs. holy; for Ribgol, 51,631 vs. neutral, 58,085 vs. ice, 66,382 vs. fire, 69,148 vs. lightning, 7,446 vs. holy Is this correct? 7,446 seems really low...

I haven't seen you around BM for a while now. Anyways, me and esvil4 were wondering if you had 4th Job Warrior DPS comparisons? I don't know if you've seen but we were planning to repost the Warrior Comparison Wiki just to lower the number of "What should I be/which class is better" threads, along with a 4th job update. Blitz and Milkshake have already agreed with the idea, and it'd be great if there were hard mathematical fact with what we say.
